SUMMARY:Online Office Hours - Personal Experiences of Race in Society and the Workplace
DESCRIPTION:Personal Experiences of Race in Society and the Workplace\n\n \n\nOffice Hours was developed as a monthly program to be hosted by the Area Councils Boards around a topic that is both timely and especially relevant to companies in specific Area Councils.\n\n\n\nThe nationwide protests following the death of George Floyd have led many business leaders to reconsider their organizations' approach to diversity and inclusion.\n\n \n\nToo often\, D&I programs have been primarily educational seminars with little practical effect on even well-intentioned leaders' business practices.\n\n \n\nMight this lack of impact be due to those programs' lack of personal\, empathetic conversations between those of differing backgrounds?\n\n \n\nIn this one-hour discussion\, community leaders will share their experiences as people of color\, both in society at large and in the workplace\n\n\n\nMeet the panel\n\nMike Coffey is an entrepreneur\, human resources professional\, licensed private investigator\, and HR consultant. He is president of Imperative Information Group\, a background investigations firm serving decision makers in need of consistently thorough\, accurate\, and reliable background investigations. He will moderate this panel discussion.\n\n \n\nGlenn Forbes\, Executive Recruiter at WhitneySmith Company\, a human resources consulting firm based in Fort Worth.\n\n \n\nAlyce Jones\, President and CEO of Adair Eyewear is a high end optical boutique that offers sunglasses\, prescription frames\, prescription lenses and reading glasses. \n\n \n\nRachel (Navejar) Phillips\, Marketing Manager at The Rios Group\, a minority-woman owned company headquartered in Fort Worth. Rachel is also an active community volunteer. \n\n \n\nDante Williams\, Owner DIG Contracting\, a company that focuses on commercial projects in new construction and repairs/restorations
