Listening, truly listening, is hard. Even harder is making changes based on that listening. Yet, listening can transform a fragmented community, helping it to reach its fullest potential through collaboration and problem-solving.
Over breakfast, coffee, and fellowship, our trained community listeners will serve as facilitators for a listening event for community members, focusing on topics that are inspired by residents who register for the event.
Instead of featuring panelists or speakers, this Candid Conversation session will be focused on listening to community members in the room, using facilitated discussion around each table. We can’t think of a better way to spend time before Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., weekend.
At the end of the listening session, several researchers at TCU will synthesize some of the ideas generated by this event. Our table facilitators will help us share ideas with others in the room, as well as sharing with organizations in Fort Worth that are working on these issues. Through news stories and other listening events, Fort Worth Report will also provide coverage of these issues after the event.
Representatives of these organizations will be joining us to listen to community members:
The City of Fort Worth
The Fort Worth ISD
Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce
Tarleton State University
Tarrant Area Food Bank
TechFW
Texas Christian University
United Way
Workforce Solutions of Tarrant County
