Direct Lending Senior Underwriter - EECU

EECU is seeking a detail-oriented, thorough, and organized senior underwriter to join our growing team. As an underwriter, your primary responsibility will be to review consumer loan applications for creditworthiness and evaluate the degree of risk. The ideal candidate for this position is astute, self-assured, decisive, and is able to complete tasks and make decisions independently.  

Senior Underwriter Requirements and Qualifications: 
  • This position requires strong underwriting, communication, and analytical skills to handle high volume and to ensure all applications are reviewed thoroughly and judiciously
  • Responsible for interviewing applicants and completing loan applications, along with cross-selling other qualifying loan products through our video Dialogue Office channel
  • Oversee major areas which include adherence to loan policies, underwriting guidelines, loan documents, and loan definition systems
  • Possess analytical and technical experience in the use of spreadsheets, along with the ability to use a loan underwriting system
  • Review monthly delinquency report and recommend actions to address any issues, perform audits on various loans and communicates errors/issues to appropriate management or personnel
  • Knowledge of small business lending preferred
  • Responsible for compliance of all Federal and State rules and regulations pertaining but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Bribery Act, NCUA Privacy Regulations, Reg B, Reg Z, Service Members Civil Relief, and FCRA/FACTA
  • Required to attend initial and ongoing annual Bank Secrecy Act training

Candidates for EECU should possess the following knowledge and experience:

  • Minimum of five years in the consumer lending industry
  • Minimum of five years of underwriting experience
  • Knowledge of small business lending preferred 
  • Strong underwriting and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Must possess analytical and technical experience in the use of spreadsheets
  • Excellent time management skills   
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment   
  • College degree or equivalent work experience in the financial industry
