BASIC FUNCTION:
The Manager – Membership is responsible for the overall membership development and retention activities.  This includes supervision of new member sales staff, retention of existing members, and renewal efforts. They will oversee all correspondence with members.  Ideal candidate will prioritize excellent customer service and a passion to create a positive energy and excitement for Chamber Members, staff and volunteers.  This role manages the organization’s database and trains staff to implement the database to best fit their individual department’s needs.
 
KEY ACTIVITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities will include, but are not be limited to:
 
Membership

  • Maintain relationships with members by addressing their needs
  • Oversee the implementation of retention activities across the lower membership tiers
  • Work with marketing staff to develop a communication plan
  • Develop and execute a retention plan
  • Recommend, collaborate and implement membership campaigns
  • Serves as Action Ambassador liaison and provides program oversight including investor onboarding events
  • Develop strategy of online benefits/engagement
  • Supervise sales staff
  • Assure delivery of level appropriate benefits
  • Recommend processes and procedures to ensure a high standard of customer service
  • Achieve monthly and annual retention and new member goals
 

Database
  • Serves as Database (ChamberMaster) expert and ensures accurate account data/notes
  • Oversee accurate adding, modifying and cancelling members
  • Monthly billing and Month end reports
  • Database projects as required
  • Resolution of ChamberMaster issues
  • Communication of new ChamberMaster features
 
Staff Training
  • Identify and recommend database training programs
  • Meet with Staff on specific ChamberMaster requests
 
Non Function- Specific Activities
 
  • Communicates and interacts with Chamber members and the general public regarding the Chamber of Commerce
  • Assists VP of Events in relation to membership communication and attendees of events
  • Attends Chamber, community and other meetings as a representative of the Chamber
  • Participates with other Chamber departments in activities pursuant to the overall goals of the organization
 
Other Duties
  • Special tasks as needed
 
 
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of experience in membership organization with heavy database experience, ChamberMaster preferred
  • Four-year college degree, preferred business or strategic communication
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication and computer skills
  • Requires exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Self-learning, self-motivated, member-oriented, and goal driven
 
DECISION-MAKING AND ACTION TAKING:
Position requires making decisions regarding matters which are beyond procedures. It also requires to make procedural recommendation changes. Must be able to execute routine processes.
 
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Moderate noise level
  • Some lifting of boxes of up to 50 pounds
  • Long periods of sitting
  • Ability to meet monthly deadlines
