Dickies Arena is a 14,000 seat, spectacular multipurpose venue located adjacent to the Will Rogers Memorial Center campus in Fort Worth, Texas. The arena is owned by the City of Fort Worth and managed by the not-for-profit operating entity, Trail Drive Management Corp (TDMC).

 

Dickies Arena hosted 172 events in our last fiscal year and has been nominated for Arena of the year by both the Academy of Country Music and Pollstar Magazine in 2022 and 2023. The arena now ranks 2nd in gross ticket sales and attendance in Billboard Magazine’s Worldwide Boxscore Midyear chart among venues of similar size. Reports to: Director of Technology

 

Job Description :

The Technical Services Manager oversees the equipment and staff necessary to operate the live video, audio, and lighting systems necessary for the exemplary production requirements of Dickies Arena. This includes supporting and overseeing both the creation of content as well as the execution and reporting of played content.

 

Essential Duties (Include, but are not limited to the following):

  • Ensure all broadcast and control room equipment is maintained and fully operational.
  • Keep up to date records of known issues, service, and maintenance records.
  • Work with Low Voltage Technician on any necessary repairs and maintenance to broadcast television cable infrastructure.
  • Work with building security, operations and engineering departments for maintenance and operation of the arena lighting systems
  • Work with outside Broadcast Partners on venue specific needs operational logistics
  • Work with building staff and show contacts to schedule all event day production staff for all video, lighting, and audio needs.
  • Forecast for emerging trends and future needs to stay current with top level in-venue presentations.
  • Work with upcoming events to ensure properly sized and formatted content is delivered. Program content for various forms of playback systems.
  • Work with event day staff to ensure that all content for events is loaded and tested and plays out properly. Be present for all technical rehearsals and walk through and assist staff with updates or changes.
  • Work with Arena Corporate Sponsorship team on new and innovative content and ideas for enhanced sponsor activation.
  • Assist in other duties inside the technology departments including set-up, tear-down, day-to-day maintenance and ongoing training.
  • Other duties as assigned to support venue operations.

 

COMPETENCIES

  • Experience with large events and sports presentations.
  • Experience with regional and national broadcast requirements.
  • Knowledge of staffing and scheduling requirements for large and small productions.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have experience with content playout in a live events or sports atmosphere.
  • Have experience with non-traditional media spaces.
  • Be able to work; days, evenings and/or weekends as required.
  • Have an outgoing personality suited to providing exceptional customer service, solving problems, and a commitment to continuous self-improvement.
  • Work well under high pressure situations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The role is expected to interface and communicate problems, solutions, plans and other information with peers, managers, contractors, and other external people while fulfilling the job duties. This role will oversee the motion graphic designer and part time event production staff.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will frequently operate a computer and other office devices such as calculators, telephones, copy machines, faxes, and printers. Employee will constantly move about inside and outside various areas of the facility before/during/after events to interact with internal/external clients and supervise the work of employees during events. Employee must constantly communicate via telephone, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information. Employee may occasionally be required due to business demands and event operations to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. As business, maintenance, operations, or emergency situations require, employee may sporadically assist in lifting/moving 100 lbs. or more.
