Prevention Educator

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County is currently accepting applications for Prevention Educator. The Prevention Educator is, under direct supervision of the Senior Director of Prevention Services responsible for participation, prevention curriculum, prevention activities, administrative duties, facility and child safety and administrative compliance.

 

Duties include but not limited to: recruit and enroll eligible youth into program; meet participation goals; act as liaison between all parties; provide services to meet the needs of members; conduct prevention activities; provide quality programming; and accurate and timely documentation and reporting. Services are provided on site during program hours. May be required to provide support services virtually. May be required to assist with community outreach. There is potential for exposure to germs and illnesses. Employees are to follow all safety procedures and protocols.

 

Goal of prevention services programs is to promote healthy choices and healthy lifestyle such as providing youth skills for managing emotions, communicating effectively, making positive choices, countering social influences, refusing peer pressure and the like.

 

Work sites are located in low income areas, challenging neighborhoods, and growth neighborhoods. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and at times moderate or very loud. Position requires working with large groups of youth.

 

Requirements

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience working with youth

 

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:

  • Ability to work regular program hours
  • Ability to be a positive role model
  • Ability to be patient with youth and adults
  • Ability to facilitate, teach, or instruct
  • Ability to network as well as build and maintain positive relationships
  • Ability to obtain APS and CPS credentials by set deadline
  • Ability to work with at-risk youth
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Knowledge of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be able to pass any and all required background screens and drug screens at any time
  • Position requires driving personal vehicle and company vehicle. Candidates must have reliable transportation, liability insurance, satisfactory driving record and a valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties and to be covered under the company insurance the requirement is for employee to be a minimum of age 21.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently certified in CPR/First Aid
  • Youth development experience and/or Boys & Girls club experience

 

Pay Rate: $16.83 per hour
