Fort Worth, Texas (January 24, 2023) - January is National Mentoring Month. Launched in 2002 to amplify, encourage and strengthen mentorship for young people. The month-long celebration is intended to:
The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is celebrating National Mentoring Month by providing community leaders the opportunity to train and serve as a mentor as part of the national Reach & Rise program.
Reach & Rise® is a national YMCA program designed to build a better future for youth by helping them reach their full potential through the support of caring adults. This free program provides both group and one-to-one youth mentoring program that connects young people in our community with positive adult relationships.
Mentors serve as role models, friends, and confidants. They’re a source of support for youth who are seeking guidance. Mentors are not meant to take the role of a parent, babysitter, or financer. Mentors try to introduce their mentees to new activities to help them grow and learn about themselves and their community.
The YMCA is currently accepting applications for February’s training sessions. Please contact Tamyra Bishop at email@example.com or 817-534-1591 for details and to sign up.
