SUMMARY:Comanche Nation: The Story of Quanah and Cynthia Ann Parker
DESCRIPTION:Lance Tahmahkera\, a Great-Great Grandson of Comanche Chief\, Quanah Parker\, tells stories about growing up with the Comanche traditions passed onto him by his parents. Much of his youth was spent at pow-wows and learning family stories about ancestors and the tribal ways. For the past 25 years\, he has shared those stories with various schools\, universities\, historical groups and organizations. He will touch on the origins of the tribe\, life on the plains and reservation\, Cynthia Ann and Quanah Parker\, children's stories that were passed down through his family\, and current day events. \n\n\n\nBorn and raised in Fort Worth\, Lance Tahmahkera has been with Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth for the past 40 years and currently is the Imaging Department Manager at TH Harris Methodist Outpatient Center   Burleson.\n\n\n\nThis program is in conjunction with our Cynthia Ann and Quanah Parker Trail Exhibit. This exhibit seeks to educate the public\, through a series of photos\, about Comanche heritage through presenting the dramatic story of Quanah Parker and his mother\, Cynthia Ann.  It is on display from Jul. 7th through Sept. 28th\, 2018.
