SUMMARY:Cook Children's Health Foundation presents Pickin' for Preemies
DESCRIPTION:After 10 years\, Pickin' for Preemies is no longer taking place on Labor Day. That's right  our baby has a new due date! We are so excited to announce that Pickin' for Preemies is moving to THURSDAY\, September 8\, 2016!\n\nYou are invited to join us for the 11th Annual Pickin' for Preemies Texas Red Dirt Country Music Event benefiting Cook Children's tiniest patients in their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).\n\nIt all started in 2004\, when our world was turned upside down. Our daughter Jaycie was born two months premature\, weighing only 4 lbs   oz. Then\, in 2007\, it happened again. Our son Castin was born three months early\, weighing only 3 lbs 10 oz. Today\, thanks to the amazing care they received\, we can watch our 9 and 12 year old children live healthy\, happy lives.\n\nWe experienced firsthand the need for specialized care and support for our precious children and we quickly realized that ours weren't the only children that needed this care (960 babies were treated in the Cook Children's NICU last year alone). Just to put it into perspective\, Cook Children's uses 600 specialized preemie diapers a day in their NICU (that's an average of 219\,000 diapers a year!) and diapers are just one component of the care these fragile babies need. They also need specialized equipment\, beds and medicines just to name a few.\n\nThat is why Pickin' for Preemies was born. This benefit concert raises money to take care of the tiniest Texans at Cook Children's. Without the support that this event raises\, we would not be able to provide the most up-to-date treatments and care for those who need it. We need you! So\, whether you can join us at the event\, donate an in-kind item\, volunteer your time or make a donation\, help us to make a difference in the lives of those who need us most   the NICU patients at Cook Children's.\n\nThis year we will have over a dozen Texas Red Dirt artists donate their time to raise money for the cause\, an auction\, chance drawing opportunities and tons of fun at Billy Bob's Texas!
