SUMMARY:Elemental Yoga and the Mind Arts presents Elemental Meditation I
DESCRIPTION:An 8 week meditation course meant for beginner and intermediate meditators alike. The meditation student will receive practices in breath techniques\, or pranayama\, visualization\, concentration\, sense withdrawal\, and meditation.\n\n\n\nThis is a class that builds one step at a time. It is not a class that goes through concepts quickly. Each week is focused on applying a few techniques for longer periods of time. \n\nElemental Meditation I is based on the teachings of classical\, Ashtanga (Eight-limbed) Yoga through the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Yoga is more than just movements and stretching. It is a practice in one-pointed concentration. This quiets the mind and reduces the amounts of thoughts we have throughout the day. By reducing thoughts\, we gain access to parts of our mind normally left dormant. \n\nMeditation has many practical benefits as well. It aids in relaxation\, reducing anxiety\, correcting ADHD\, and thickening gray matter in the frontal cortex. Some people also notice spiritual benefits such as increased faith or finding purpose in life. \n\nMeditation requires discipline and the allowance of time and space to be by oneself. Group meditation courses aid us to be accountable to ourselves and each other. A teacher also helps in this regard. To learn meditation from a teacher is much simpler than trying to learn it on one's own\, especially in the beginning. The techniques given in Elemental Meditation I can be used for the rest of your life.\n\nWe would love to have you join our community if you are in the Fort Worth\, TX area. If you are not but are still interested in being taught meditation techniques by one of our instructors\, you may consider our online course on Thursdays at 7pm. We teach the same breathing and meditation techniques as our in-person class. You may also inquire about a personal meditation instructor.\n\nWeek 1\n\nPranayama - Full Yogic Breath\, Alternate Nostril Breath\n\nStructure of Meditation with emphasis on Visualization\n\nMeditation on the Breath\n\n \n\nWeek 2\n\nPranayama - Root Lock\, Kapala Bhati\n\nMechanics of Light Expansion\n\nGuided Meditation \n\n \n\nWeek 3\n\nPranayama - Throat Lock\, Agni Sara \n\nOne-Pointed Concentration\n\nLight Expansion and Guided Meditation\n\n \n\nWeek 4\n\nPranayama - Naval Lock\, Ashvini Mudra\n\nMechanics of Sense Withdrawal\n\nSound Bowl Meditation \n\n \n\nWeek 5\n\nPranayama - Refinement of Root Lock and Alternate Nostril Breath\n\nCombining Visualization and Concentration\n\nFull Moon Meditation\n\n \n\nWeek 6\n\nPranayama - Refinement of Throat Lock and Kapala Bhati\n\nClarifying Meditation Intention\n\nIntroduction to Chanting\n\nLight Expansion and Guided Meditation\n\n \n\nWeek 7\n\nPranayama - Refinement of Naval Lock\, Agni Sara\, and Ashvini Mudra\n\nSilent Meditation\n\nShare Experiences\n\n \n\nWeek 8\n\nReview all Pranayama (4 Purifications with Locks)\n\nSilent Meditation\n\n?
