Dickies Arena will be a 14,000 seat, spectacular multipurpose venue located adjacent to the Will Rogers Memorial Center campus in Fort Worth, Texas. The arena will be owned by the City of Fort Worth and managed by the not-for-profit operating entity, Trail Drive Management Corp. (TDMC). The state-of-the-art arena, scheduled to open in November 2019, will host concerts, sporting events and family entertainment, and will be the new home to Fort Worth Stock Show rodeo performances.

Reports to: Director of Finance

Job Description: The Risk Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing an overall risk management process for TDMC, analyzing the potential financial impact on operations when risks occur, preparing risk management and insurance budgets, coordinating with selected broker partners in overseeing the placement of TDMC’s Property and Casualty insurance program, providing general advice to the management of TDMC with respect to contractual indemnity obligations, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures, and providing direction over the settlement or defense of insured claims.    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform risk assessment by analyzing current risks and identifying potential risks which represent an exposure to TDMC
  • Ability to understand business objectives and the broad role insurance plays in in achieving TDMC goals and objectives
  • Ability to synthesize operational exposures gleaned from business heads and explain those risk factors and exposures externally to various stakeholders 
  • Creating business continuity plans to limit exposure
  • Possess a deep understanding of policy terms and conditions
  • Conduct policy and compliance audits which will include liaising with internal and external auditors.
  • Maintain records of insurance policies
  • Ability to draft and review contracts
  • Review new contracts and business proposals and negotiating terms where appropriate
  • Possess a strong understanding of indemnification clauses
  • Demonstrate substantive mastery of event management rights and obligations
  • Establish and cultivate a culture whereby employee and guest safety are of paramount importance
  • Ability to track, manage and settle or defend claims made against TDMC 
  • Degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Management, or Economics favored with preference given to candidates who have obtained an MBA or has a RIMS-CRMP designation
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the Property and/or Casualty insurance industry
  • Experience with litigation strategy and management of claims required 
  • Experience working with event management in an arena setting preferred
  • Experience with general contract drafting and review is required
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
