Trauma Therapist (LPC-Intern, LMSW, LPC, LCSW)

I) Job Purpose
To provide initial assessment and on-going trauma counseling services to victims of crime and coordinating care with providers, family, and caregivers. Position requires trauma screening and assessments to determine mental health needs impacted by trauma and coordinating with Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to ensure continuity of care in the community. Position will provide initial trauma assessment, recovery planning and development, along with trauma based interventions for individuals diagnosed with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Position will thoroughly document all treatment provided to individuals served in accordance with Criminal Justice Division (CJD) General Victim Assistance Direct Services Program requirements and performance output measures.
II) Essential Functions
A. Performs assessments, screenings, and evaluations of individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities and their needs for trauma mental health services.
Performance Standards:
1. Completes initial trauma screenings and assessments 100 % of the time
2. Meets with individuals, family, caregivers to gather biopsychosocial information and develop treatment goals.
3. Performs trauma assessments and trauma therapy services in the community
4. Coordinates with Multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and follow ups on trauma referrals in timely manner
5. Makes appropriate community and professional resource referrals based on biopsychosocial needs of individual and their support system
6. Uses own vehicle to provide services in the community

B. Provides trauma- based counseling services using evidence- based model to help individuals stabilize, process, and recover from stressful events and trauma.
Performance Standards:
1. Assesses and documents trauma related history to determine impact of trauma on functioning and developmental growth.
2. Provides evidence based trauma therapy to help individuals cope with emotional pain of trauma, improve connections with natural supports, maximize independent functioning as well as develop a sense of safety, empowerment, and healthy connections in their environments.
3. Completes all clinical documentation including electronic health record in a timely manner
4. Completes all clinical documentation including electronic health record the next business day by 10:00 am after the date of service
5. Complies with direct care productivity measure of 50 % direct care services.
6. Uses Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) approaches in working with family, caregivers, and individuals served including the 3 TBRI principles of Connecting, Empowering, and Correcting. In addition using TBRI core conceptual foundations of attachment theory and behavioral neuroscience of complex development trauma.
7. Provides services in accordance with trauma informed care guidelines which includes cultural sensitivity and emphasizes a safe and respectful environment for individuals, providers, caregivers, and family members.
C. Provides comprehensive service delivery assessments through coordination with program Multi-disciplinary team.
Performance Standards:
1. Coordinates trauma care with MDT team including Occupational therapist, Behavior Analyst, Trauma Therapist as well as other professionals
2. Coordinates trauma care including training and providing recommended strategies for supporting individuals in trauma informed care way with providers, caregivers, and family members
3. Attends and completes all agency and required trainings 100% of the time
4. Attends program and division workgroups as directed by program director.
D. Thoroughly follows all agency and CJD guidelines, policy and procedures in accordance with service delivery
Performance Standards:
1. Follows all DADS, DSHS, HHSC, MHMR of Tarrant County, and CJD procedures and guidelines and documents accordingly.
2. Follows up with referral contacts within one week of referral assignment.
3. Obtains needed Release of Information consents
E. Completes other duties as assigned

A. HHSC, DADS, DSHS, CJD, MHMR of Tarrant County policy and procedures.
B. Standards of practice for licensed professionals (ie: Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors or Social Work Examiners)

E. Knowledge of therapeutic process and ability to engage individuals in recovery from trauma
F. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
G. Ability to work and effectively with providers, caregivers, and family members
H. Knowledge of available community resources
I. Ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral formats
J. Code of Ethics
K. HIPPA compliant
L. Above average time management, record keeping, and organizational skills
M. Conflict resolution and motivational interviewing skills
N. Knowledge of disorders typical and atypical and development growth
O. Knowledge of mental health disorders
P. Knowledge of experience working with children and families from various socio-economic, linguistic, cognitive, mental health, trauma, educational and cultural needs
Q. Knowledge of attachment, adult attachment styles, child attachment and the key characteristics of secure attachment.
R. Experience working with Child Protective Services, CPS
S. Knowledge of sensory processing preferred
T. Ability to problem solve with families, providers and caregivers using good conflict resolution skills
U. Ability to navigate effectively to get to places on time in community (use of GPS)
V. Ability to complete all required training
IV) Internal & External Customer Service
A. Knowledge of protective factors and individual strengths
B. Excellent interpersonal skills for internal and external customer service
V) Travel
This position requires driving to and from locations for work and/and may require overnight traveling. Employees are required to have a license in good standing and be able to be covered by agency liability insurance. If personal vehicle is utilized for work travel, then maintaining personal auto insurance coverage is required.
Job Requirements:Minimum Education
