North Texas Community Foundation Celebrates Record Year
Achieves largest grantmaking year in Foundation’s history

FORT WORTH (Feb. 7, 2017) The North Texas Community Foundation is celebrating a record year, recognizing its largest grantmaking year as well as a record amount of gifts in the 36 year history of the Community Foundation.

In partnership with its donor advisors, the Community Foundation awarded more than $30 million in grants and scholarships in 2016, with the majority of those grants benefitting our local community. The Community Foundation received over $60 million in contributions from individual and corporate donors, bringing its charitable assets under management to approximately $275 million.

"2016 was a year of many successes for the Community Foundation," says Nancy E. Jones, President/CEO at the Community Foundation. "The past year was a year of tremendous growth on many fronts. This incredible amount of giving was made possible by trusted partnerships with our donor advisors, professional advisors and local private foundations that have a remarkable understanding and compassion for our region. We are proud to work with our individual, family and corporate donors to help them make a difference to the causes they care about most.”

In addition, 2016 marked the conclusion of the latest ToolBox Grants cycle. Over a three year period, more than $1 million was awarded to 52 Tarrant County agencies focused on improving opportunities for children from birth through third grade. The 2014-2016 cycle was marked by significant growth and diversity of its investors, with resources provided by 14 private foundations, 29 donor advisors and funds from the Community Foundation. In 2017, the Community Foundation will remain engaged in early learning by continuing its partnership with the Early Learning Alliance and by providing grant opportunities through its next generation philanthropist group, WORTH.

Other distinctive 2016 moments include the Four Mayors of Fort Worth: An Evening of Insight & Vision event in August and serving as a convener and advocate for state level conversations about Foster Care redesign.

"We’ve been honored since 1981 to steward our fundholders’ philanthropic assets and are reminded every day of the many ways in which we are building a culture and tradition of philanthropy in North Texas together through our work," continues Jones.  "We are thrilled to accomplish the increased grantmaking due to the positive growth the Foundation has seen over the past few years."

Since 2010, assets at the Community Foundation have grown from $124 million to a historic high of over $275 million.
