2014 NCHA World Championship Futurity
An estimated $4 million in prize money
Fort Worth, Texas, Nov. 5 – The premier cutting horse event of the year, the NCHA World Championship Futurity, is fast approaching. Held annually in Fort Worth, Texas, at the Will Rogers Memorial Complex, this 25-day event attracts the industry’s most talented cowboys and cowgirls as they debut their very best 3-year-old cutting horses. Intense competition and a purse of nearly $4 million brings the cream of the crop as these horses showcase their incredible talents in front of a full house of spectators. A main highlight for the performance horse industry and a popular attraction for equine enthusiasts around the World, the NCHA World Championship Futurity draws an annual crowd of more than 12,000 each year.
“The Futurity is the pinnacle event of the cutting horse industry,” said NCHA Executive Director Jim Bret Campbell. “This is what trainers, owners, breeders and non-pro and amateur riders work toward every year. No other equine event can compare to the NCHA World Championship Futurity. The purse money, the talent, the crowds, the anticipation of what these 3-year-old horses will do during their big debut are all contributing factors to the exhilarating environment that’s delivered on finals night. We’re looking forward to crowning this year’s NCHA Futurity Champion.”
A family-friendly environment, the Futurity also includes the Best of the West Trade Show where hundreds of unique vendors encompass more than 100,000 square feet of the Amon G. Carter Exhibit Hall, located right next to the Will Rogers Coliseum. Quality tack, exquisite jewelry, home décor, clothing and more bring visitors and locals alike just in time for the perfect holiday shopping experience.
Also on the list is the $200,000-added NCHA Mercuria World Finals that brings the top 15 weekend competitors in 10 different classes to Fort Worth as they compete for a World Championship buckle. This action-packed event is6 days of high-energy cutting competition in the Watt Arena as horses and riders of all ages battle it out for top honors. Spectators will see many of the industry’s top horses and riders, many of which already have several World titles to their name. The sixth and final round of the Mercuria World Finals will take place Sat., Dec. 6, and will be followed by the World Finals Party in the Round Up Inn.
Fort Worth, the city of Cowboys and Culture, serves as the perfect backdrop for this event that celebrates a sport rooted in ranching traditions. From the iconic Stockyards that offer daily cattle drives and rodeos to Sundance Square and the new West 7th district that offer exquisite dining and shopping experiences, Fort Worth has something for everyone.
