Kidney Walk is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness of kidney disease and raise funds to support lifesaving programs for patients, their families, and those at risk.

Because funding builds the future, it helps build a world where kidney disease is caught "early” and treated before it causes significant damage. It builds a world where people don’t have to get a dialysis treatment to stay alive. It builds a world with no wait list for people seeking a kidney.

How Your Support Helps

Kidney Walks are a vital source of support as we provide real time assistance for those in need. 80 cents of every dollar donated goes to research, patient services, professional education, public health education and community services. 

• Action: We ensure that 26 million Americans living with chronic kidney disease get diagnosed, treated and supported early.

• Education: We provide the public, patients, and healthcare professionals with tools to promote kidney health.

• Accelerating Change: We advocate for change on Capitol Hill and support life-saving research.

How is the money used?
More than 80 cents of every dollar raised for the National Kidney Foundation goes directly to support programs and services including:

• Free local KEEP Healthy® screenings throughout the United States. Patients are screened for kidney disease risk factors and receive educational information and a clinician consultation.
• Peer support through NKF PEERS, our free, national telephone-based support program that connects those experiencing chronic kidney disease with NKF-trained mentors who have been through a similar experience
• Advocacy efforts to improve the quality of life for kidney patients and reducing transplant waiting times
• NKF Research Grant program, including the Young Investigator Grants program for beginning scientists
• Community-based education through “Your Kidneys and You,” a volunteer-led presentation on risk factors and prevention of kidney disease
• Patient and professional education programs and resources such as the Kidney Living magazine for dialysis patients, smartphone applications, NKF Spring Clinical meetings, professional journals, and a vast library of printed publications on a variety of topics
