During the early years of our chapter, our Program Director, Jason Rocha, encouraged The First Tee of Fort Worth participants to give back to the community by donating canned goods, clothing, and toys to the Northside Inter-Community Agency and Tarrant Area Food Bank. Once all of the donations were collected, The First Tee of Fort Worth family (participants, parents, staff, and volunteers) would deliver everything to NICA in time for the holidays.
As we’ve grown, the “Giving Thanks Golf Tournament” has grown with us.
This year we’ve been presented with a unique opportunity to take this event to the next level through our inclusion in The Greatest Gift Catalog Ever. Within The First Tee’s Life Skills Curriculum, our participants are called upon to give back to their community in a variety of different ways: volunteerism, activism, and fundamental support. To support these efforts, we believe it is vital to expose every child to a variety of community partners whose message and purpose may resonate deeply with them.
The 2015 Giving Thanks Golf Tournament will be held on Rockwood’s River’s Edge Golf Course. At each hole, the different organizations recognized in The Greatest Gift Catalog Ever will have an opportunity to explain their mission and needs to everyone playing in the tournament. Upon completing their round of golf, every child who plays will be given a The Greatest Gift Catalog Ever gift card they can use to make donations to these great community partners!
Just as we’ve done in the past, anyone can play and the entry fee is any canned good, gently used or new clothing, or unwrapped toys for children. We’re also encouraging adults and parents to make a donation to The Greatest Gift Catalog Ever which will be returned to them in the form of a gift card.
So form your team and visit www.thefirstteeftworth.org to make your tee time!
