Women's Safety luncheon

Hylan B. Lyon, Jr. PhD, President and COO of the Texas Institute of Science www.txis.us will cover four revealing events in the life of the US where science engaged National Policy in the Executive Office of the President or in the OECD (aka the Marshall Plan) in Paris.

1. The anti-hijacking response that led to the first placement of metal detectors and baggage x-ray screening at airports in the mid 1970’s;
2. The International Traffic in Arms issues surrounding the approval of the GE-SNECMA joint engine production, which is now the most successful engine program in the history of aviation (over 12,000 sold);
3. The response to the first OPEC issue from the vantage point of the OECD-International Energy Agency;
4. The origination and execution of the Military Critical Technology Approach to Export Control and how that fit with the TxIS.
