About Us

The Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge is 3621 acres of dedicated parkland on the north end of LakeWorth. Part of the City of Fort Worth park system the FWNC&R features 20+ miles of natural surfacehiking trails, 9 miles of paved roads for biking and trailhead access, and a public bison herd andprairie dog town. The staff naturalists at the Hardwicke Interpretive Center provide numerous opportunities for guided hikes and natural history-related classes. The park was recognized with a LoneStar Land Steward award from Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept in 2009 for excellence in natural resource and wildlife habitat management.
