The 19th Annual Cigar Smoker will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Fort Worth Club. This prestigious event is the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation’s biggest fundraiser and one of the most anticipated social events of the year. Proceeds from the annual Cigar Smoker provide the funds to enhance programs focused on literacy and learning for Fort Worth children, families, and adults.
In 1901, at the suggestion of Andrew Carnegie, a group of Fort Worth ladies asked local gentlemen to donate “the price of a good cigar” to help raise money to build a local library and bring literature to Cowtown. To honor our history and to further promote literacy in our city, the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation hosts the Annual Cigar Smoker at the Fort Worth Club.
This signature event is unlike any other in Fort Worth. Premium cigars, seated dinner, fine wines and spirits, entertainment and silent and live auctions are the hallmarks of this remarkable evening. The success of the annual Cigar Smoker has been significant in allowing the Foundation to continue its work of enhancing library services in partnership with the City of Fort Worth.
