George Washington & Eisenhower at War: A Lecture by Pulitzer Winner Rick Atkinson

Fort Worth Country Day invites the community to the Captain David R. Herr, Jr. ’80 Memorial Lecture, featuring best-selling author and three-time Pulitzer Prize winner Rick Atkinson. Atkinson will present "From Ordinary to Extraordinary: George Washington and Dwight D. Eisenhower at War," exploring leadership, perseverance, and military strategy.

Drawing from his acclaimed Revolution and Liberation trilogies, Atkinson examines how Washington and Eisenhower navigated intense wartime pressure to guide ordinary citizens through extraordinary trials. Rather than focusing solely on battlefield tactics, the lecture highlights the human element of command—offering field-tested lessons on resilience, character, and service that remain vital today.

A reception will follow in the Lou and Nick Martin Campus Center.
