Dr. Howe-Martin joined the psychiatry faculty at UT Southwestern in 2009. Prior to receiving her doctoral degree from the University of North Texas, she received much of her training within the Federal Bureau of Prisons, treating inmates with chronic mental illness and medical complications. After graduation, Dr. Howe-Martin completed postdoctoral training at UT Southwestern in the Parkland Victim Intervention Program.
Dr. Howe-Martin sees patients and supervises interns at the UT Southwestern Moncrief Cancer Institute in Fort Worth. She also teaches the Advanced Abnormal Psychology and Cultural Diversity courses within the clinical psychology doctoral program, and serves on the Clinical Training and Clinical Examination committees. She has recently been named the Associate Director for Continuing Education within the department of Psychiatry, and is developing an ongoing series of Continuing Education events for mental health providers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
