It’s still “orange cone syndrome” in Tarrant County, but it’s getting better with Chisholm Trail and North Tarrant Express almost complete at the interchanges. And, now voters have passed a constitutional amendment (Prop 1) to increase highway funding for the Texas Dept. of Transportation (TxDOT).
At the helm of TxDOT is new Executive Director Lt. Gen. Joe Weber, USMC, (Ret). Weber's goal is to provide and maintain a safe and reliable transportation system for 26 million Texans, and to support transportation as an economic development tool that makes Texas the best destination for businesses and visitors.
Prior to TxDOT, Weber served as vice president for Student Affairs at Texas A&M University, where he was responsible for the oversight of more than 900 student organizations and activities. In his 36 years in the United States Marine Corps, Weber served in numerous command and leadership positions throughout the United States and overseas, including tours in Europe, South America, Southeast Asia and Iraq.
