Noche de Gracias is a fundraiser held once each year in support of Cassata High School. Proceeds from Noche help supplement tuition assistance, improve academic programs and provide much-needed technology and curriculum updates. Cassata is a nonprofit outreach high school that provides a second chance at education for students who are not well served by traditional school settings. Many of Cassata’s students face significant barriers to obtaining an education — for the 2010/11 school year, 44% of graduates were the first in their family to earn a high school diploma; 27% of students were teen parents; and several were over the age of 21. Cassata’s unique educational model helps students address their challenges. In fact, 81% of our 2010/11 graduating class progressed to two or four-year colleges; enlisted in the military; or enrolled in trade school—a statistic made even more impressive considering that many of these students were former drop-outs.
