Many of you may have noticed the work on Earth Fountain during June and July. The artist, Philippe Klinefelter, has been busy installing the much-anticipated second phase of Earth Fountain, a Public Art project commissioned by the City of Fort Worth located at Byers Green on Camp Bowie.
The second phase of the project adds three, hand-carved Texas red granite benches and edged labyrinthine pathways around the existing sculpture, creating a peaceful, shaded gathering place for visitors and residents of the surrounding neighborhoods. The artist-designed walkways and benches will complete his original design for Byers Green.
Philippe Klinefelter is an accomplished sculptor and public artist, and a trained architect and geologist based in Austin, TX. Over the next two weeks, he expects to complete the second phase of Earth Fountain. It has been an exciting and unique opportunity to watch him work, installing this site-specific piece that will be enjoyed by many for years to come.
On Saturday, August 20, at 10:00 am, the completed project will be re-dedicated! Light refreshments will be served.
