One Writer's Trip: From the Garden to the Plate and Beyond, featuring Michael Pollan
For the past 20 years, Michael Pollan has been writing books and articles about the places where the human and natural worlds intersect: food, agriculture, gardens, drugs, and architecture. He is the author of several best-sellers, including In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto and The Omnivore’s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals. The latter was named one of the 10 best books of 2006 by the New York Times and the Washington Post.
 
Pollan is the John S. and James L. Knight Professor of Journalism at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism and the director of the Knight Program in Science and Environmental Journalism. His most recent book, Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation, was published in 2013. A four-hour Netflix miniseries based on Cooked premiered in February 2016.

GENERAL ADMISSION

UTA students, faculty, and staff can reserve general admission tickets for free (limit two). For the general public, there will be a modest fee of $5 per ticket. Reserve your tickets at utatickets.com.

PREFERRED PACKAGE

Preferred packages offer greater access and are available for $35 each. The preferred package includes:

  • Reserved entrance to lecture facility to avoid long lines
  • Reserved seating near the front of the venue (one seat per purchase)
  • Reserved parking (one parking permit per purchase)
  • Front-of-the-line access to autograph signings (when offered)

V.I.P. PACKAGE

Our V.I.P. ticket holders are offered select benefits. These benefits include preferred package access, plus:

  • Entry to an exclusive reception with the featured speaker along with entry to a private sit-down, catered dinner before the event
  • Photograph and autograph opportunities
