The thesis of this session is that balance and success, in life and work, are contingent on having a clear personal purpose – and living it. Many young professionals know what they want – and why -- but quickly get into bad habits. They betray their own boundaries, becoming ‘workaholics’ by saying ‘yes’ too much. Before they know it, many young professionals become what they didn’t want to be! This session is a chance for VFW members to ‘take stock’ of their life and career, and to (re)set their purpose going forward.
This four-hour session is designed for young professionals who are experiencing a high degree of success in their current career. It’s focus is on clarifying ‘personal purpose,’ the ‘why’ driving what we do. During the session, we will look at techniques of bringing purpose to the foreground in your life and career, allowing you to attract more of what you want without the ‘striving’ so characteristic of young achievers. Additionally, we will explore a rigorous and practical definition of personal success.
Do not come to this session if you want a boring lecture. It will be highly participatory, and you will get to know fellow VFW members. The session has been custom-designed for VFW participants based on the recent survey conducted by Aitken Leadership Group. The session will include some exploration of other topics that surfaced in that survey, including the challenge of the ‘generation gap’ faced by many young leaders.
