We are located off of S. Pipeline Rd E. behind a home. Look for the Large pink sign on the fence near the house, as the City Ordinance does not allow street signage.
We began our journey during the pandemic in 2020. When our founder and co-owner, Derek, was furloughed from his corporate job in March of that year, he turned to gardening full-time to pass the time and reconnect with memories of gardening alongside his grandparents. To attract more bees to his garden, he discovered a book about native bees and quickly became fascinated by their role in our gardens and the environment. As he sought native plants to draw in these essential pollinators, he realized that finding a diverse selection in the market was nearly impossible.
Later that year, Derek lost his mother, an avid gardener and plant lover. For him, tending to the garden is a way to stay connected to her memory and something much deeper.
In 2021, after a significant freeze, he noticed that a friend's shrubs and plants, along with many others in the area, had perished. However, the ''farm'' he had established with native plants the previous year was thriving. He offered to redesign their backyard at no cost, using only native plants, in exchange for permission to use project photographs in his portfolio. This initiative led to the founding of Native Gardeners in August 2021. We are grateful for the opportunity to help restore native plants to the DFW landscapes, fostering healthy and thriving ecosystems.
We affectionately refer to his grandmother's property as the farm where Native Gardeners reside.
