Communications Director

The Greater Fort Worth Association of REALTORS® is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Communications Director with a passion for content creation, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications planning. The ideal candidate will excel in maintaining brand consistency, developing aligned communication strategies, and demonstrating exceptional written and verbal communication skills. This role requires versatility and the ability to handle a wide range of responsibilities, as the Communications Director will oversee various aspects of communication independently. The ideal candidate must possess the diplomacy and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders, facilitate discussions, build consensus, and drive the organization’s mission forward.

This role is in person at our office in Fort Worth, Texas.

Job Responsibilities:
Leadership and Vision

  • Lead the creation and dissemination of key messages to ensure consistent and effective communication across all channels.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to keep the organization's communication efforts at the forefront of the field.
  • Offer sound communications and media relations advice to senior leadership.
  • Champion the organization's brand and values, ensuring all communications reflect and reinforce the desired public image.
  • Drive engagement with key stakeholders, enhancing the organization's visibility and reputation.
  • Continually identify creative new ways to communicate key messages to members.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for Association communications, regularly evaluating performance and making timely adjustments.
  • Oversee contractors providing communications support as required.
  • Attend annual Communication Directors Institute with the National Association of REALTORS® (travel required).
Communications and Marketing
  • Develop and execute an integrated marketing and communications strategy in collaboration with the CEO, aligned with the Association’s strategic plan.
  • Oversee and manage the creation and distribution of marketing materials, including emails, videos, printed materials, website promotions, and social media content, to ensure effective communication of GFWAR events, programs, and classes to members.
  • Design professional and polished graphics using Adobe or Canva, ensuring alignment with brand standards; includes social media promos for events and programs, sponsor recognition signs, PowerPoints for events, forms, and event programs. Work with contract designer as needed on a project-by-project basis.
  • Research, write, edit, and publish press releases, alerts, statements, articles, and other materials.
  • Prepare and oversee executive communications as needed.
  • Manage the weekly e-newsletter for membership distribution.
  • Maintain all social media channels including developing and posting content.
  • Manage GFWAR and SCR websites; includes posting and editing content, adding events to the calendar and creating new pages.
  • Develop and implement a crisis communications plan in collaboration with the CEO.
  • Design and conduct media, brand, and crisis communications training for staff and leadership as needed.
  • Assist with program and event planning.
Public Relations
  • Collaborate with a contracted Public Relations agency to secure media coverage, manage inquiries, and coordinate press activities. Supervise media relations efforts by agency, prepare leadership for spokesperson roles, and develop key messages and relationships.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of branding strategies, segmentation, and customized digital marketing campaigns.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess the association’s brand and media coverage, ensuring alignment with the marketing communications plan.
 
Committee Liaison
  • Serve as staff liaison to assigned committees and other related task forces or work groups.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, notices, minutes, and reports. Perform related follow-up work between meetings.
Other
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate degree in communications, marketing, or public relations preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a communications role, ideally with a non-profit or trade association.
  • Proficient in Canva Pro and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Able to prioritize and work efficiently to accomplish tasks.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with a strong focus on detail.
