RISCKY’S BBQ TO HOST 18th ANNUAL RIB-EATING COMPETITION ON JULY 27, 2024

FORT WORTH, Texas (July 8, 2024) – Riscky’s Barbeque, the 97-year-old Fort Worth BBQ legend, will host its 18th annual Rib-Eating Competition at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, at Riscky’s Stockyards Station location at 140 East Exchange Avenue in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. The competition will challenge up to 30 barbeque enthusiasts to eat as many Riscky’s beef ribs as possible in just 60 seconds. The top qualifiers will then go head-to-head to win the top three prizes:

  • 1st place -- $500 Riscky’s gift card
  • 2nd place -- $250 Riscky’s gift card
  • 3rd place -- $100 Riscky’s gift card

All participants must pay a $5 entry fee at the door on the day of the event, and sign-ups are on a first-come, first-served basis (limited to 30 participants). Participants must be 18 years of age or older, and minors are eligible if accompanied by a parent or guardian. All participants will receive a complimentary Riscky’s t-shirt.

Riscky’s famous rib-eating battle will be held in tandem with a series of celebratory events hosted by the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District in honor of the National Day of the American Cowboy. Voted the “Best Cowboy Tribute Event” in the U.S. by American Cowboy magazine, the Stockyards’ National Day of the American Cowboy celebration has become a cherished and time-honored tradition.

With over 35,000 attendees expected, the National Day of the American Cowboy promises a day filled with family-friendly activities from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The festivities include a Cowboy Celebration parade, armadillo races, cowboy poetry, cow milking, petting zoo, horseback riding, face painting, live music, gunfight shows, the Fort Worth Herd cattle drive, Stockyards Championship Rodeo, and much more.

"We are excited to once again present Fort Worth's most legendary food challenge," expressed Eddie Sullivan, co-owner of Riscky’s Barbeque. "Whether you're participating or spectating this year, it's always a thrill to witness these hearty food enthusiasts take on our mouthwatering ribs. Fort Worth is synonymous with the Stockyards, cowboys, and exceptional barbecue, and there's no better spot to savor all three than at Riscky’s on July 27."
