Tuesday night, the Fort Worth City Council voted to suspend certain DEI initiatives in compliance with new federal directives. They also set in motion the creation of a small business development program to expand contracting opportunities for small businesses. As the leading voice for business in our city, the Fort Worth Chamber acknowledges the complexity of this policy decision and remains focused on the path ahead: ensuring our local business environment continues to thrive.
We were proud to stand alongside our colleagues at the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber and the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber during the City Council meeting. Together, we are committed to building a strong foundation for a new small business enterprise assistance program that ensures equitable access to opportunities across Fort Worth.
While the Fort Worth Chamber represents many of the region’s largest employers, the majority of our members are small businesses. These businesses are the backbone of our economy and a core part of the Chamber’s mission to foster business growth, retention, and long-term prosperity.
We are uniquely positioned to support this next chapter by:
- Convening partners across sectors to connect small businesses with contracting and mentorship opportunities,
- Leveraging our communications channels to ensure wide access to City procurement updates, and
- Supporting business retention through succession planning—because sustainable local growth depends on preserving the businesses already rooted in our community.
Our message to Fort Worth’s business community is simple: we are here for you. The Chamber remains steadfast in our commitment to supporting businesses of all sizes and backgrounds. We look forward to working with the City and our fellow chambers to implement solutions that keep Fort Worth’s economy strong and growing.
