About Us

The Cristo Rey Network empowers thousands of students from underserved low-income communities to develop their minds and hearts to become lifelong contributors to society. By providing students an extraordinary college preparatory education and a unique four-year, integrated corporate work study experience, we seek to transform urban America.

The Network's first school opened in 1996 in Chicago. The Network is now comprised of 37 schools across the country, with two additional schools slated to open in 2021. The results and success of Cristo Rey schools are evident in the numbers, with a 100% graduation rate from high school as well as a 100% college acceptance rate. Graduates of Cristo Rey school are enrolling in and completing college at twice the rate of low-income high school graduates.

Cristo Rey Network schools operate as both a school and a temporary employment agency. The unique aspect of a Cristo Rey school is its Corporate Work Study Program. Students work one full day ech week in a real, entry level job through the Corporate Work Study Program to earn a majority of their own education. More than 3,000 corporate partners employ teams of students who share one job and provide coverage Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm
